USEFUL TIPS FOR YOUR HOLIDAY IN SHARM EL SHEIKH

Passport Information
When entering Egypt you must have a passport which is valid for at least 6 months after your stay, two types of visa’s are available at the Airport.

The full Egyptian Visa is valid for 1 month and allows you access to the whole of Egypt, should you wish to visit Cairo or Ras Mohamed this Visa is needed. It can be purchased at the Airport and desks are clearly sign posted, approximately $15 per visa.

If you plan to stay inside Sharm El Sheikh then a Sinai Visa is required, this is free of charge and is valid for 14days. When passing through immigration Airport staff will automatically stamp this inside your passport.

Egyptian Culture
Egypt is widely known for being a Muslim country but you will also find Egyptian Christians. With an open mind and consideration for your surroundings you will take away from your holiday an understanding of a very different culture.

Strict Muslims do not drink alcohol, use drugs or eat pork products. You will not see any pork products in any hotels or restaurants in Sharm. Muslims in Sharm El Sheikh however understand that it’s a Tourist area and will not object to visitors drinking alcohol in reasonable amounts.

There is no such dress code in Sharm El Sheikh but Ladies please remember the less you wear the more people will look. Muslim Ladies wear veils and headwear to show modesty but also to discourage advances from men. Sharm El Sheikh is generally a safe area but please still be aware of your surroundings at all times and be confident to say no when in situations you don’t like.

Climate
Sharm El Sheikh is an all year round destination due to the sunny climate, December to March is classed as Winter and water temperature is approximately 22 degrees, long or dry suits are recommended. A jumper or jacket is advised for when out of the water, it can get quite breezy out on the decks!

From May to August you will be seeing highs of 45 degrees and will find most of your time will be spent in the swimming pool or the Red Sea itself.

Currency
The Currency in Egypt is Egyptian Pounds – LE. Most of which is all paper, but some coins are starting to be introduced, be careful to check what your handing over and receiving back as there are 2 different papers for a 50, one can be approx 5 sterling and one can be approx 5 pence!

Sharm El Sheikh is a resort for many different Countries and caters for all currencies, Euro, USD, Sterling .You will receive a better exchange rate in Sharm El Sheikh than the UK and there are plenty of banks around to change. Your hotel will also offer the facility to exchange money but at a lesser exchange rate. Do not bring Traveller’s Cheques as you will struggle to find a bank which will change these. Large Restaurants and Bars will allow you to pay in currencies other than Egyptian Pounds.
